WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN
Power Sector is continuously expanding sector. The amendment in the Indian Electricity Act, opened private sector participation in the Transmission & Distribution of Power. It has further created a large demand for the trained persons in Electrical Utilities. The main objective of the course is to create a technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the power companies in the area of Transmission & Distribution of Electrical Power. This is an Employment Oriented Program for those who desire to make a career in the power sector. On successfully undergoing this course the Graduate Engineers will find immense opportunities and preference in employment with various power companies.
 
ABOUT THE COURSE: This is a unique course of 26 weeks duration which will be conducted by Power Systems Training Institute (PSTI) under NPTI at Bangalore. The course content covers complete operation and maintenance of Power Transmission & Distribution Systems, as per the syllabus of Indian Electricity Rules (Rule-3) for Transmission & Distribution.
 
PLACEMENT: The previous trainees got placement in ABB, NDPL, L&T, BSES, Easun Reyrolle, KEC International, Adani Power, Torrant Power, Sterlite Industries, Enercon India Ltd, Jyoti Structures, Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited, Switchgear & Control, PR&DC, JSPL, Consulting Engineering Services, Kalki Communications, etc. companies.

ELIGIBILITY: Bachelor of engineering or equivalent in “Electrical” or “Electrical & Electronics” or “Power engineering”.
 
AGE LIMIT : Maximum age limit as on 01/05/2011 is 30 years. No age limit for sponsored candidates.
 
SELECTION CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION: Percentage of marks obtained in the B.E. or equivalent examination as per University norms.
 
NO. OF SEATS : 60 (Sixty only). 25% seats are reserved for sponsored category. Reservation for SC, ST & OBC will be as per Govt. norms in the non-sponsored category.
 
FEES: Rs. 1,20,000/- for non-sponsored candidates Rs. 1,50,000/- for sponsored candidates
 
SPONSORED CANDIDATES: The candidates sponsored by employers if fulfilling eligibility requirement, will be admitted directly.

    1. Lineman on contract basis : 5000 posts

    PGDC COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CET) 2011

    POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA COURSE IN THERMAL POWER
    PLANT ENGINEERING (2011-12)
    (Covers the Mandatory requirements under Indian Electricity Act 2003)

    WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN? The main aim of the course is to develop a pool of technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the Indian Power Sector. Besides, the course shall enhance the knowledge and skills of the engineers sponsored by the State Electricity Boards, Power Utilities etc.

    ABOUT THE COURSE: This is a modular course of one-year duration. Formal coaching is held at Regional Institutes of NPTI Located at 1. Nagpur (Maharashtra). 2. Badarpur (New Delhi) 3. Durgapur (WB) 4. Neyveli (TN) 5. Guwahati (Assam) and 6. Nangal (Punjab). On-job training is conducted at the nearby Thermal Power Stations and the training on state-of-the-art Simulator at NPTI Faridabad/Badarpur/Nagpur. The course profile covers the mandatory requirements under Indian Electricity Act 2003 which stipulates "No person shall be authorized to operate or undertake maintenance of any part or whole of generating station of capacity 100 MW and above together with the associated sub-station unless he is adequately qualified and has undergone the specified training at a recognized Institute".

    ELIGIBILITY: B.Tech/ B.E. or equivalent in Mechanical / Electrical / Power / Electronics / Control & Instrumentation  Engineering. Those appearing in their final year examination can also apply; however, they must submit their provisional degree at the time of counseling.

    SELECTION CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION: Merit based on a Common Entrance Test (CET) result followed by counseling. CET will be held on 19/06/2011 at 8 centres (Faridabad, Badarpur, Nagpur, Durgapur, Neyveli, Bangalore, Guwahati and Nangal.)

    AGE LIMIT: For non-sponsored candidates the age limit as on 31/08/2011 is 27 years. Age relaxation in case of reserve category candidates is as per Govt. norms. No age limit for the sponsored candidates.

    TOTAL SEATS: 340. Reservation for OBC/SC/ST/Physically challenged as per Govt of India norms. 25% seats are reserved for candidates sponsored from Power Utilities having more than one year experience as on the date of counseling and more than 60% marks in Engineering Degree. The seat allocation of the Institutes is shown below: Nagpur- 65 Badarpur- 65 Durgapur- 65 Neyveli- 65 Guwahati- 40 Nangal- 40 Total No of seats may vary as per requirement. Vacant seats in sponsored category can be filled by non sponsored category and vice-versa if required.

    PLACEMENT: To provide career opportunities in the Indian Power Sector, NPTI is maintaining close linkages with Power Utilities and reputed companies for employment of the trained engineers. Most of the students are placed in reputed Power Sector Companies before the completion of the course.

    HOW TO APPLY: Applications are to be filled online with Demand Draft (DD for the prescribed registration fees of Rs.800/- in favour of “NPTI Nagpur”, payable at Nagpur must be ready at the time of registration) The other details are available on our site www.npti.in and www.nptinagpur.com Each applicant will be given a unique ID on successful registration at site. This ID must be preserved for future reference. On registration the hard copy along with the testimonials (refer website) and Demand Draft should be sent to The Principal Director, National Power Training Institute (WR), south Ambazari Road, Gopal Nagar, Nagpur-440 022 along with two copies of passport size photographs (with Name & ID written on backside) latest by 13/05/2011. The registration shall be confirmed only after the receipt of the hard copy of application with Demand Draft.

    COURSE FEE: For non-sponsored candidates Rs.1, 60,000 (in 3 installments). For candidates sponsored from SEBs / PSUs / Private Utilities Rs.2,50,000/- lump sum at the time of admission. There is no fee concession for any category of candidates.

    COURSE FEE FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS:

    * SAARC Countries: US$ 7,000
    * Other Countries: US$ 8,000
    The cost of Transportation to Industries/Power Stations is to be borne by the participants. LODGING/BOARDING: Hostel Facility is available and provided on first come first served basis, subject to availability on extra charges. Separate hostel for girl candidates.

    OBJECTIVE:
    To develop a pool of technically trained power plant professionals for power utilities of India & Abroad. The course authorizes the pass outs to operate OR undertake Maintenance of any part or whole of a generating stations of capacity 100 MW & above together with the associated sub stations.
    Training Methodology:
    a) Class room lectures for imparting theoretical & technical knowledge
    b) Practical training in different technologies: 4X250, MW, 4X600 MW & 4X135 MW capacity Jindal thermal Power Plants.
    c) Simulator training (JIPT has 4X250 & 4X600 MW Honeywell make simulator which is replica of actual thermal plant)
    d) Case studies /group discussions/ experience sharing/panel discussion
    e) Self learning through CBT training packages
    f) Exposure Visits to other power plants
     
    Eligibility criteria: For PGPTPT: A regular 4 year BE/B.Tech degree OR equivalent with 60% or above marks in aggregate in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/ EEE /Control & instrumentations. Total Number of seats: 150 (Mech: 90, Electrical: 45, Electronics/Controls & Instrumentation: 15)

    For PDPTPT: Three years Diploma from a recognized board in Mechanical/Electrical/Civil with 60% or above marks in aggregate in Diploma. Total Number of seats: 50 (Mechanical: 25, Electrical 15, Civil: 10)
    **Candidates awaiting their final semester engineering/Diploma exams are also eligible to apply; however they should have aggregate more than 60% in previous semesters. Provision for admission of the candidates under Management Quota: 10% Placements: Placement assistance will be provided.

    Fee details: Rs 100,000 for PGPTPT & Rs 60,000 for PDPTPT in 2 equal installments.

    PLACEMENT: To provide career opportunities in the Indian Power Sector, NPTI is maintaining close linkages with Power Utilities and reputed companies for employment of the trained engineers. Most of the students are placed in reputed Power Sector Companies before the completion of the course.

    HOW TO APPLY: Applications are to be filled online with Demand Draft (DD for the prescribed registration fees of Rs.800/- in favour of “NPTI Nagpur”, payable at Nagpur must be ready at the time of registration) The other details are available on our site www.npti.in and www.nptinagpur.com Each applicant will be given a unique ID on successful registration at site. This ID must be preserved for future reference. On registration the hard copy along with the testimonials (refer website) and Demand Draft should be sent to The Principal Director, National Power Training Institute (WR), south Ambazari Road, Gopal Nagar, Nagpur-440 022 along with two copies of passport size photographs (with Name & ID written on backside) latest by 13/05/2011. The registration shall be confirmed only after the receipt of the hard copy of application with Demand Draft.

    COURSE FEE: For non-sponsored candidates Rs.1, 60,000 (in 3 installments). For candidates sponsored from SEBs / PSUs / Private Utilities Rs.2,50,000/- lump sum at the time of admission. There is no fee concession for any category of candidates.

    Applications for admission to the following courses are invited.
    · 1 year Post Graduate Program in Thermal Power Plant Technology (PGPTPT)
    · 1 year Post Diploma Program in Thermal Power Technology (PDPTPT)

    OBJECTIVE:
    To develop a pool of technically trained power plant professionals for power utilities of India & Abroad. The course authorizes the pass outs to operate OR undertake Maintenance of any part or whole of a generating stations of capacity 100 MW & above together with the associated sub stations.
    Training Methodology:
    a) Class room lectures for imparting theoretical & technical knowledge
    b) Practical training in different technologies: 4X250, MW, 4X600 MW & 4X135 MW capacity Jindal thermal Power Plants.
    c) Simulator training (JIPT has 4X250 & 4X600 MW Honeywell make simulator which is replica of actual thermal plant)
    d) Case studies /group discussions/ experience sharing/panel discussion
    e) Self learning through CBT training packages
    f) Exposure Visits to other power plants
     
    Eligibility criteria: For PGPTPT: A regular 4 year BE/B.Tech degree OR equivalent with 60% or above marks in aggregate in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/ EEE /Control & instrumentations. Total Number of seats: 150 (Mech: 90, Electrical: 45, Electronics/Controls & Instrumentation: 15)

    For PDPTPT: Three years Diploma from a recognized board in Mechanical/Electrical/Civil with 60% or above marks in aggregate in Diploma. Total Number of seats: 50 (Mechanical: 25, Electrical 15, Civil: 10)
    **Candidates awaiting their final semester engineering/Diploma exams are also eligible to apply; however they should have aggregate more than 60% in previous semesters. Provision for admission of the candidates under Management Quota: 10% Placements: Placement assistance will be provided.

    Fee details: Rs 100,000 for PGPTPT & Rs 60,000 for PDPTPT in 2 equal installments.
    Boarding / Lodging: Facility is available in shared rooms. Hostel charges are Rs 2000 pm & mess charges are approx 2500 p.m.
