"The University has been incorporated for the purpose, among others, of making provision for imparting education in Arts, Letters, Science and the learned professions and of furthering advancement of learning, the prosecution of original research, with power to appoint University Professors, Readers and Lecturers, to hold and manage educational endowments, to erect, equip and maintain University colleges, libraries, laboratories and museums, to making regulations relating to the residence and conduct of students and to do all such acts as tend to promote study and research.

Qualification : Good academic record as defined by the concerned University with at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed at the Master’s degree level in relevant disciplines from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University.
Note: (ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR. (iii) The candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions. (iv) NET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes indisciplines for which NET is not conducted.
Application Fee : Application forms along with ‘Detailed Instructions” containing qualifications etc. can be had either from Form Counter, Panjab University, Chandigarh on payment of Rs. 375/- for General Category (Rs. 150/- for SC/ST category) or from the Deputy Registrar (Establishment) by sending a crossed account payee Bank draft payable at Chandigarh of the same amount in favour of the Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh, accompanied by self addressed stamped envelope (worh Rs.30/-) of 30 cm x 12 cm.
HOW TO APPLY : Application in the prescribed format , along with copies of relevant document should reach the Deputy Registrar (Estt.), Panjab University, Chandigarh by April 15, 2011.
